CeMines was founded in 2000 by Richard Cavalli, Toomas Neuman and Kaia Palm to develop cancer diagnostics using two methods: auto-antibody and splice variant technologies.

Our headquarters is located in Golden Colorado and our Scientific Laboratories are in Tallinn Estonia.

Our focus is on the early, and accurate detection of Cancer within the human body.  Our initial product is focused on Lung Cancer.

Mr. Richard Cavalli, CEO and Chairman.

Richard is a co-founder of CeMines. Richard is a successful business entrepreneur, establishing, funding, and growing a number of profitable enterprises. Richard’s foundation in business began by working in the financial industry as a stock analyst learning about capital structure and corporate financing, eventually working for  Wall Street icons Charlie Munger and his partner, Warren Buffet.  Richard brings invaluable experience and knowledge of capital markets and startup needs to drive successful business outcomes to CeMines.

Dr. Toomas Neuman, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer.

Tom is one of the founders of CeMines, and has 25 years of research in the areas of molecular biology that now forms the basis for CeMines’ scientific platforms.  Tom has published more than 80 research papers and presented at hundreds of scientific forums in more than 15 countries. Tom holds six US and European patents, and has 14 patents pending. He obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Developmental Biology, from The Institute of Developmental Biology, Moscow, Russia in 1983. Subsequent to receiving his Ph.D., Tom has led research teams at some of the world’s most prestigious universities & research institutions in Europe and the United States, including: • Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics (Tallinn, Estonia), • University of Helsinki (Helsinki, Finland), • Karolinska Institute (Stockholm, Sweden), • Max Planck Institute of Biophysical Chemistry (Goettingen, Germany). • Cedar’s Sinai Medical & Research Center in Los Angeles.

Mr. James Rosa, Chief Operating Officer.

Jim has a broad experience base in product development and operations includes 13 years of experience in the medical device industry. His experience in developing and releasing medical devices while integrating and validating new design control processes and quality systems around FDA and CE requirements while at the Gambro Group is invaluable as CeMines moves to launch its first product. Jim’s background spans engineering design, program management and business development/ technology transfer within a broad range of regulated industries including medical, space and defense. Prior to CeMines he has worked for leading technology organizations including Intel’s Architecture Laboratories, Loral Systems Group and Raytheon Company, as well as a number of startups. Jim has been awarded a number of patents related to medical devices. His education includes an MBA from Colorado State University and a B.S. in Computer Science from Radford University.
 
Dr. Joanna Money, Ph.D., Sr. Consultant, Business Development

Joey brings more than 15 years of business development, marketing and sales experience to CeMines, including the last 10 years in pharmaceutical and diagnostic markets.  Most recently she played a key role in the successful effor to sell RxKinetix, Inc. to Endo Pharmaceuticals, Inc.  Joey has provided senior level business development leadership on efforts in technology divestments, product sales, new market penetrations and strategies leading to capital events in a number of biotech companies.  She has international experience, including Europe and Asia, bringing key knowledge to CeMines as we begin to drive our strategies for penetration there.  Dr. Money has a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Indiana University.  She currently works for CeMines as a Sr. Consultant in business development strategy.

Dr. Kaia Palm, Ph.D., Vice-President Research and Development

 
Kaia is one of the founders of CeMines, one of the most highly respected cancer researchers in northern Europe; Kaia was awarded her Doctor of Medical Sciences (Ph.D.) in Molecular Neurobiology from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. Kaia has performed post-graduate work and served as a visiting researcher at: • Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics – Tallinn, Estonia • Institute of Biotechnology – University of Helsinki, Finland • Post-graduate student – Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia • Visiting Researcher – Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, Colorado • PH.D. Research Fellow – Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California Kaia heads up the work to bring our science to realization as well as specifically developing the science around CeMines splice variant research. Kaia is located in CeMines Estonian office.
 
Mr. Bailey Dotson, Vice-Chairman.
 
Bailey’s background began in government affairs, developing predictive models for voting behavior and managing political campaigns with the firm of Spencer-Roberts in Los Angeles. There he worked with statewide bond issues for the University of California, worked with then Governor Ronald Reagan on turning around the balance in the California legislature and managed campaigns for the District Attorney of Los Angeles as well as U.S. Senate and Congressional campaigns. He joined Searle Pharmaceuticals in governmental relations at the state and national levels, working with product approvals and anti-substitution legislation initiatives. During that time, he worked for Donald Rumsfeld, CEO of Searle.  Bailey was involved with real estate development in the Southern California area doing small residential developments and later became associated with Lincoln Property Company, a national developer of multi-family housing. At Lincoln, he was responsible for locating and structuring land acquisition and planning for large apartment developments in California and Nevada. Bailey now runs his own property development company with Richard Cavalli.
